MARIA ISABELLA

MY STORY
Hi, my name's Maria Isabella. (First name, last name...sigh...I have to explain it all the time.) I'm a writer, author, and self-professed foodie, albeit hopefully not the snobby type.
I got my degree from Cleveland State University. Did it the hard way—with two majors (Mass Media Communication and Interpersonal Communication) plus a minor (International Marketing...because I speak four languages and have dual citizenship).
After graduation, I started out in high-end retail management, then left to start my family. Five kids and years of freelancing later, I reemerged into the corporate world to assume a meaningful career in advertising, creative writing, and marketing/editing.
All in all, I have 30+ years' professional experience. I've owned my own business (called Isabella Communications). I've worked for others (including such giants as McCann Worldgroup, American Greetings, Vitamix, Step2 Toy Company, and Kichler Lighting). I've overseen writers, artists, web designers, and salespeople. I've presented to all sorts of clients, from Fortune 500 corporations to mom-and-pop shops. And, oh yeah, I've written a cookbook or two.
In a nutshell, I've pretty much done it all, creatively speaking: writing, editing, proofreading, art directing, project coordination, publishing, etc., etc. And not to toot my own horn, but my work has been recognized by some of the most respected creative organizations around. (Hey, I've even got the awards to prove it!)
